my HP 3820 printer quit working.I checked around for a replacement and found all the newer printers have tiny ink holders. I like the large easilly refillable cartriges in my 3820 and would like to have it repaired. Is that service available?

I found what appears to be one of those printers currenting going for $1 on ebay. I feel quite sure you'd be much better off getting a new one than trying to repair your old one. Very few printers are reparable.

As for refilling carts, I know my PSC1350's carts lasted a year and a half before needing to be replaced. They're 53/54 carts I beleive...

been there, done that

I emailed every HP 3820 seller and only one actually said theirs worked. I bid $20 plus the $20 shipping charges for a total of $40 and was outbid. Low starting charges plus exorbant shipping fees are a common strategy for sellers to keep their ebay service fees low.

still bidding

I found another 3820 on Ebay for 99 cents and bid to $25. The bidding is up to $62 plus $20 for shipping for a total of $82 and still going up. These are used units with no guarentees. A refurbished printer would have expectation of several years use and would probably be in the same general price range.I could buy a new combination printer/scanner at Walmart for just about the same price as this used printer is selling for. Evidentally I am not alone in wanting large easilly refillable ink cartriges. Several years ago Epson would refurbish their printers but I don't know if they still do, or if HP does.

with the prices of printers now and days ur almost better off to buy a new one instead of spend a crap load of money just for ink, but point being printers are so cheap just buy a new one
