Printers that don't use ink?

is there such thing as a printer that doesn't use ink?

i rarely print, possibly once every 3 months,

i would rather have a printer at home, so i don't have to go to the library all the time just to print.

ive seen stores use little printers that use heat to print my receipt


advice?

Receipt printers also don't bring in multiple colors or high resolution, plus the paper you use is a lot more expensive than regular copy paper. If you want a cheap per page printer that lasts a while, get a black and white laser printer. They will last a lot longer between uses and the cost per page is significantly less than inkjet printers.

While you can get the heat based printers, in the long run, it's cheaper to get a $60 black and white laser printer and some cheap A4 paper. Total cost is like $65 and it'll last you for a couple of years no problem. The printers you're talking about cost big bucks because they are not a consumer product, and the paper they use is expensive and also has a very unpleasant texture in the hand. They are also typically very low DPI those printers.
