Probelm regarding REGEDIT? Can't install software!

Im trying to install an audio recording software. this is the error i get:

i've been told its a virus, and i should download some virus scanners/spyware scanners, etc. ive done so, im still getting the message. please someone help me, i need this software =[
 
you might have a trogen that places a regedit.com file and then throws this error google how to find out if you have got it and how to remove it
 
Ok i went over those forums, those FAQ's, step by step procedures, EVERYTHING, even got brand new McAfee 2007, took out a few viruses, still same error while installing the software.
 
if you need virus protection, download Avast or AVG. I would use Avast. what i would do is open the command promt and go to another computer and copy the application. can you open regedit for the Run box?
 
Yeah, regedit is probably renamed. You will have to unhide files in the System32 folder and find the regedit.com file and delete it... The same virus does the same thing to cmd.com and several other key files that are useful in eradicating problems.
