Problem about installing the CD-RW

Hi, I just tried to install a CD-RW in a desktop pc but it failed.

The motherboard model is 2themax 4VKMI, it has 2 IDE sockets.

The IDE1 is connected to a 80G HDD (as primary master).

The IDE2 is connected to a DVD-rom and a DVD-RW (secondary master and secondary slave).

After I installed the CD-RW (as a primary slave) to the IDE1 cable, the computer just hang up when it gets to the Windows XP loading screen.

When I got into the bios setup I could find all drives (i.e. 1 HDD and 3 CD-ROM). I just wondering if I have done something wrong about the connections??? Thanks

If the BIOS can see all the drives, then the connections are done properly.
Win XP is trying to reconfigure itself with the new CD Drive when you boot it up.
Try booting Win XP in safe mode - this way it can reconfigure itself without any programs running in the background. If everything is OK, then reboot Win XP normally.
