Problem and I don't know what it is

Everytime I shut down my computer, my computer turns on. But it turns on at about 8AM. I find this really strange and this is the second time this happens. Today when I go on my computer which was on, I see AVG doing a scan when I didn't even tell it to do a scan. I didn't even scheadule one. One thing that I find strange is when I shut down my computer and it comes back on later on because I have a bios password. And also Windows passwords. How is this possible? If you have any questions, just post and I will answer them. I didn't put a Hijack This log either but if you want me to put one, ask as well.

Thank you

Are you useing the main power button on the pc to turn it off? or a button on the keyboard?

Is it a Desktop or Laptop?
What brand/model is the Motherboard?

I am not using the main power button so turn off my computer.

It is a laptop

And how do I find out the brand/model of my motherboard?

Some computers have the ability to power up at a given time. Check the BIOS to see if it's enabled.

Oh ya, I didn't know but I haven't been in my bios and changed anything. But I will see. I will shut down my computer and see if it happens again.

If you have a BIOS password & Windows password, yet the computer turns itself on & logs into windows with out you doing anything, i'd say its something to do with the Hibernation settings of your laptop. Try turning off the Hybernate option.
Goto "Control Panel", "Power Options", then the "Hibernate" tab, and untick the "Enable Hybernate" box.
