Problem booting

I have a friend with a booting problem, I had it already but don't know how I solved it :S

Basically, he boots, and then he gets the flashing white bar thingy (like when you write), but no XP boot screen. However, he can boot with safe mode, but says the antivirus is particularly slow. Apart from that, I don't know anything more than it was working until this morning. Please help

Artroman have you tried a repair of windows? I would think he is missing some files and if you repair you may be ok? If that doesnt work then it could be more indepth i would try that first...

Reimage, cant go wrong!
Try repair but its never ever worked for me

I love Windows repair, it has worked for me every time. Although it does time some time to do it depending on the speed of the computer. Its worth a shot at least.

Well, finally, we unplugged the iPod which was plugged in durin boot and voila! It works!

leaving ipods and external hdds pluged in can cause this problem.
