Problem burning a video in a dvd

Hello, I wanted to check if somebody could help me with this. I downloaded a video that supposedly had the extension *.avi but now I see that it says the name and then a little square "avi". I checked in some players (divx and windows media player) and both can play it, but I had to download the AC3 to be able to hear it. Now I have a dvd burner and it doesn't recognise the file as a valid .avi or any kind of video file. If anyone could tell me how to burn it or convert it since I don't know much about this.

Try using dvd santa. You can download it free from lime wire. It does it all for you. Great program to use.

I have had similiar problems, a little program that works great for me is
"divxtodvd"
it will convert and burn
but if you really want a high quality DVD burning program, get Nero
