Problem hooking up wireless

Hey guys, i just bought a Netgear Range Max WNDR3700, i have a atheros AR5007EG wireless adapter in my Toshiba laptop.

I set up the modem and i can run my xbox through a lan line and my laptop. I connected my laptop to my wireless network. It successfully connects and show that i have 5 bars, although i cannot get on the internet. i plugged my Lan line so i can log into my settings and made sure all the radios were on, and made sure my laptop radio was on and still nothing.

I reset the modem and did a power cycle about 50,000 times. I am stuck and lost. I even went as far as to start changing the channels on the modem with no luck.

i even called tech support, but i have choice words for them

please help.
 
Is it possible that you are entering the wrong security key? Also it might help to disable security on the router to see if you can get online without it enabled and then deal with the security issue if you can connect. It's possible you may need to update the wireless driver.
 
Also, do you know if you have it set for DCHP, or if your IP address is static? That can mess things up sometimes.
 
it is set up for DCHP, and no i have a regular ip address

i guess i could knock dow the security
