Problem installing EEpson 1240u driver

My system is Windows 7. I am trying to instal the driver for my Epson 1240U scanner. This downloads with no problem from the Epson site, but the scanner can't find it. Neither can I!

Can anyone tell me where this will be in the computer so that I can direct the scanner where to search.

Thanks

Are you running 32bit or 64bit version of windows 7? If 64bit, its not compatible. You'll need a new scanner as its an old model. If 32bit, then all you do is download the file and click on run when it has finished downloaded. Are you using IE to download or a different broswer?

I use IE. Indeed, I have downloaded it and clicked on it and gone through the installation screen. It then says it has installed. However, the scanner doesn't find it.

I go into Device Manager, where the scanner shows with its property stating that there is no driver installed. I click on Update Driver and Search Automatically. It searches for ages but comes up with no driver.

I then click on Choose the driver - but it is then that I cannot find the driver on my hard drive.

So, I am left wondering where on the hard drive has the driver been located?

By the way - it is a 32 bit system

Are you running 32bit or 64 bit windows 7? The driver is self extracting and will install itself. Your scanner is only compatible with 32bit version.

After repeating the download-install several times, the driver has installed and linked with the scanner.

I have also downloaded the two available utilities. Sadly, these both output to my printer rather than producing a jpg (which my old Windows utilities did). I shall need to find a work-around, as I do need jpg's!
