problem installing graphic card

i everyone. Im trying to install a pci graphics card but am having some difficulties. i disabled my onboard graphics, installed the pci card...im running 2 monitors on this new card hence the reason for the upgrade.
when i switch the computer on after the install both monitors came on, windows xp loaded, promted me for the installation disc which it duely went through....then both monitors went blank. I rebooted and windows came on(heard the sounds) but both monitors were blank.
i unplugged one monitor and booted up. Now the monitor comes up but about 10 seconds after windows comes on the screen just freezes.
ive now unplugged the pci card and am back on my old onboard graphics but unable to run twin screens, can anyone help?

Reinstall the PCI card and see if it works. After it all installs (and if it is still blank), try plugging one monitor into the onboard. It may still be on. then go under the display properties and select the PCI card instead of the onboard. That should work.

nah its still going blank, and also if i switch monitors to the old onboard when i switch the computer on the monitor doesnt receive a signal at all and goes to sleep.
