I got a new Seagate Barracuda 250Gbyte HD (SATA) and I'm trying to hook it up with little success. My mobo is an Abit NF7 V2.
I have an IDE adapter the converts the IDE slot to SATA and there is also a SATA port on the mobo. I've tried hooking it up several different ways, but WindowsXP does not recognize it.
Aany help is greatly appreciated.

It is not recognized in the BIOS.

I have the sata driver floppy, but it still tells me I have no HD connected.

To force the Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 drive to 1.5Gbits/sec mode, apply a jumper to the outer most pins of the jumper block. See Figure below.

Your board might no be able to see a sata 3.0 harddrive

If you make sure that the Jumper is set to the way that you are going to use it, then everything will be fine... I just installed that exact HD last week in a unit I built for a customer. Everything was fine once the jumper was set...
