Problem installing new GPU

Hello,

I recently bought the Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1060 3GB Graphic Card ( http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5979#kf)

also bought 550W PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139147)

I used (http://www.coolermaster.com/power-supply-calculator/) to calculate how much do I need and it gave the recommended wattage is 460W

unfortunately after I installed the GPU, the pc wont boot and it gives me 4-6 beeps when i start it.

My pc is HP Pavilion p6715me-m (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c02679497).

the integrated Graphic card work normally, the pre installed Nivedia Geforce 405 works fine when installed.

the fan of the GTX 1060 start initially then it would stop (the GTX 1060 stop working).

the 6-pin cable is connected, the GTX 1060 is seated well in the PCI-x16 slot.

tried several time to remove it and re install it and nothing would work, i disabled the security check for the PCI x16 slot from the BIOS, the PC then boot up normally using the integrated card but the GTX 1060 wont show in the device manager (like it is never installed in the device).

That motherboard has issues with GTX cards. You may have trouble getting it working.

Try this (exactly in order):

First, set a Restore Point.
  • Right-click the Start button, then select Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System.
  • In the left pane, select System protection.
  • Select the System Protection tab, and then select Create.
  • In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then select Create.
Then...
  1. Remove the graphics card (1060) and start computer.
  2. Navigate to intel drive update, install and run it.
  3. Install any updates and restart.
  4. Download and install DDU.
  5. Run DDU and select Launch.
  6. Then click on 'Clean and Shutdown'.
  7. Once the computer has shutdown, touch the case to prevent static discharge and then reinstall 1060 ensuring power cable is connected.
  8. Start computer and enter BIOS (usually Del or F2 key) and make sure your default graphics option is set to PEG/PCIe (not integrated).
  9. Save and restart.
  10. Once started, download your nvidia driver for your operating system.
  11. Install and restart.
  12. Update any BIOS or other driver here (make sure you select your OS and 64 bit or 32bit) If you have Windows 10, choose Windows 8 options if 10 doesn't appear.
  13. Restart as requested.
Post results.

Thank You Okedokey

I followed your steps to the number

but Unfortunately it didn't work :(

nothing changed at all

I am afraid that i might damaged my brand new graphic card when i was installing it :(

But i might try to start from scratch and build a new PC, What motherboard do you suggest that will be compatible with this GPU, I will be buying an intel core i5-6500 processor

So, Any recommendations??

What comes up in the bios under graphics (when the card is installed)?

before I installed the new GPU the first time there was an option to select the primary GPU (integrated or PCI "it was the geforce 405")

but before I installed the new GPU my PC had a problem in the OS (Windows 10), so I had to reinstall the OS (I removed the geforce 405 before reinstalling the OS)

I installed the new GPU after installation of a fresh OS, but it didn't work, so I removed the new GPU and checked the BIOS but the option to select the GPU was gone (no where to be found in the BIOS).

I tried resetting the BIOS by removing the small battery from the motherboard (for a whole night), placed the battery again and checked the BIOS and still no option to select the primary GPU. (the new GPU was fitted).

I searched for an update for the BIOS, couldn't find any (if you can help me with that i will appreciate it).

Since your 4 pin CPU power connector is way over on the other side of the board, you did plug it in?

Yes I did

Reseat the graphics card and check it is properly installed.

Did it Several Times

when I fit my old geforce 405 it work perfectly

when I fit the new GTX 1060 the boot screen show but it freezes after beeping once and after few seconds "about 20 seconds" it beeps about 4 fast beeps and nothing happens

tried to enter the BIOS with the new GPU installed but it freezes at the boot screen
