Hi,
Recently, i had trouble installing XP in my Acer laptop. But then sorted it out changing SATA settings to IDE.

Initially i had problem installing ubuntu 9, the laptop provider said that 9.10 ubuntu is incompatible to your latest laptop, you need to have latest version of ubuntu. I dont know the reason why OLD Version of ubuntu dont work in my new laptop. So, I've tried installing Ubuntu several times, but there an error that bugs me everytime.
I've attached the images of the related problem. It says faulty harddisk/DVD, but i've downloaded a new copy of ubuntu into a new CD, yet its not working. I have tried installing wubi in the same partion of WindowsXP.

Can anyone solve this problem? [Please Check the Images]

md5 checksum is a way to make sure all the information is there. Almost every linux OS that you download has a checksum listed on there site. In your case, it's one of these for 9.10
http://releases.ubuntu.com/karmic/MD5SUMS

After you download the iso, you should right click it and select create checksum file.
Windows will then create a file with information in it. After it's done that, open the file and compare it to the actual value listed on the site. This verifies that everything was downloaded correctly. No point in burning something that's incomplete.

I would go with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, very stable, compatibility better then most OSes and it is still a commonly used and highly supported software unlike the aging Windows XP.

I downloaded the ISO using a download manager. and the download manager creates the file only download is complete.
