Problem installing slave drive

I tried putting a 120gb hdd set as a slave drive into my computer. I ran the setup screen and it recognized that it is attaced to the cable but when windows xp loads up it won't read it. Disk management doesn't read it either so i can't format the drive. Any suggestions on what to do?

Try setting the jumpers on the slave to cable select, or CS, that may make a difference. Is your slave on the same IDE cable and header as your master?

yeah they were on the same cable and header....but I haven't tried the cable select setting b/c i didn't know what it would do

ok setting it to cable select allowed setup to recognize it and windows xp knows that it is pluged in but it won't automatically set the drive to a letter and put it in My Computer. What should I do?

Go to control panel>administrative tools>storage>disk management, you may be able to assign a letter from there.
