Problem Installing Windows 7

So I'm trying to install Windows 7 onto my computer (not an upgrade) and When I get to the step where I pick a Partition, I'm stuck. It looks like this:

Disk0 Partition1 - Total Size: 76.3GB, Free Space: 5.9GB, Type: System
Disk0 Partition2 - Total Size: 13.0MB, Free Space: 13.0MB, Type: Primary

*Partition1 can only refresh or load driver.
*Partition2 can refresh, load driver, delete, or format.

I want to install it on Partition1, but it won't let me click "new". I already clicked "new" on Partition2 to see what happens (that is when it showed up as "Primary"), but obviously there's not enough space to install it there. Would it help if I deleted Partition2? That's the only thing I can think of but I figured I'd ask here before I completely messed it up.

Partition 2 is probably just remnants of a XP install. It creates a small amount of unallocated space during a install.

I usually just delete all the Partitions and start over creating new ones during a install.

MAKE SURE ALL YOUR DATA IS BACKED UP BEFORE YOU DO THIS!

Just delete both partitions and make one large partition.
