problem on command key!!

i was facing the problem of command key when i was installing either window 95 or window 98!
normally comp will reboot in the middle of the installtion!
my comp did that and it stuck at a place and ask me to key in what 'command key'!( no idea with it)
anyone know what is the commad key??
heard from one of my friend said that all the command key is that same!

It sound like the computer wants the number, serial number, that came with your operating system. It is like when you install a game and it asks for the serial number or the number printed on the CJ jacket. You operating system installation wants the same thing. The serial number, should be on the CD Jacket or on the CD, or on the OS box.

i format that comp!!
and install window 98! normally it will reboot at the middle of the installation is it??
it reboot! and stop at a screeen that ask me to key in what 'command.com' somethinglike that!
i asked a friend and he said this is what that HD need!!(2Gb HD)
he said he saw someone key that command before!it is a command not serail num!
this is why i am so that it is not serial num as he had forgotten the commad!
 
eject any floppies you may have in your floppy drive. Also go into fdisk and make sure the partition is set to be active.
 
put a Windows 98 boot disk in and format your hard drive like this

format c: /s EDIT:After you do this, reboot to see if you can boot to a c:\ prompt from your hard drive

then install windows

see if that don't help

Also re-partitioning would be good too.

Yeah well command key and command.com are two different things. One is a button and the other is an operating system. How did you install W98? (off a floppy or the cd or what)?

2. Whether you install by CD or not you havnt installed it yet (otherwise you wouldnt be having these problems)

Was absolutely jack all nothing. I was simply noting the difference between what you meant (command.com) and what you said (command). You need to be as precise and accurate as you can to help us help you.

try typing slower and forming your sentences? if it's an actual incapability i understand completely...
