hi all people. I wonder whoever can help me in this problem.

I am running dual boot vista and xp

I am trying to repartition my hard drive with partition magic, the partition magic prompt repair on some sector which it think is a problem.

After restarting the pc, my partition gone.
I found out that inside my disk management. there is missing drive letter and "ntfs" word above the partitions. the partition status "not active"

how do fix this.?? I need a clear solution on how to fix those partition back to active status with ntfs format.

thanks

Try not to start two threads on the same problem. For the most part there can only be one active partition namely the boot primary. When dual booting different versions of Windows the first or host primary becomes the single active primary there in order to see the system startup. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/228004

Using Partition Magic You have seen the drive letter designation changed or seen a new partition replace the original now needing to be formatted to be made ready for use. It will still be seen as an NTFS type partition but not a logical drive until formatted.

With Vista you can now resize as well as create and delete other partitions without a 3rd party tool or program. When in the Disk Management tool simply right click on the partition without a drive letter to select the format option. Of course like seen in your other thread you will first want to recover files from the previous primary.

I dont want to format my drive, I have my data all over it XD

I have 1 partition C:Vista, 1 partition D:Data, and F:WinXp
total 3 partition

After the changes in partition magic which i am doing it while im in winxp, I had lost D and F partition after the rebooting. and I am unable to boot into winxp.

I had used some of the ultilities, I had now recover the file in partition F(winxp)-ntfs
but, I still cant retrieve the file from D(Data)-ntfs. It might because the is no bootfile or pagefile inside so some ultilities cant retrieve it.

As mentioned in the other thread you started you may have already wiped that partition when going to Partition Magic and ended up creating a totally new presently unformatted partition. You would then need a data recovery tool to see what can be retrieved.
