problem on startup

Well, I just built a computer and things were looking fine until today when I began to install counterstrike. During the installation my PC shut itself down and everytime after that it will start up and then shut down after a little while. Is it heating up too much? I have this weird feeling the fans are not bringing enough air into the system.

Please Help!

just to check, google "speedfan", download it and when you run it you will get a list of temps from inside your system, post em in here so we can have a look at how hot everything is, obviously make sure its been running fora little while so the temps have reached there normal level
 
another thing i have to add is that I am still on a free trial of windows, i am trying to find the activation code....and I am on a university network so before I can download anything off of google I need to download a bunch of updates, but before I can do that I have to find that activation code. Once I do that I will post the fans.

*UPDATE*: I just tried to install CS again and it worked fine.
 
I was going to say you can uninstall CS or do a System Restore to try and get things back to the way they were.
 
actually.....i think i found the problem. I havent opened the case up yet, but I feel that I miht not have put enough compound on the chip to keep it cool...and this is just its way of letting me know that. My friend is coming up this weekend and is gonna bring some up, once i add more, hopefully it will be working fine.

It's a possibility, but very little thermal compound is required. Are you using the stock HSF, and if so did you completely remove the old thermal pad? What exactly are your temps? If it is temperature related, it will happen again, when you're doing something more CPU intensive.
