If this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry. Well I finally got my computer formatted. I had to take it somewhere to get it formatted.
Anyway, now I can't play .avi movies. If I try to play them through WMP 11, I can hear the sound but no picture but if I try to play the movies through Ares, it will not play it at all. I had the movies stored on the second hard drive so they did not get deleted. I can play mpg files fine.
I checked the file types through WMP 11 and .avi is selected. Could someone tell me why this is doing this and how can I fix it?
BTW, the reason that I couldn't format it myself is because there is a setting in the Bios that was wrong. There are 3 options, Factory default, combination and something else(can't remember). It should have been on combination instead of factory default. It had something to do with model of my computer. It is a Dell Dimension 9100. The guy that fixed my pc told me that a bunch of people had this problem and they contacted Dell but they did not know what the problem was.
