Problem reinstalling a game...

Today I bought battlefield2 and installed it onto my machine. I tried to uninstall it again but couldn't because installshield got an error. I rebooted but still got the same error. So I simply deleted the battlefield2 folder from program files and ran tuneup utilities to clean the registry. However, when I insert the CD to reinstall the game it doesn't offer me the option to install; my machine thinks that the game is still installed.

Argggh, I don't know what to do to resolve this issue. Any ideas?

right click the cd drive in my computer. then click explore. look for setup.exe and run that.

OK I just did that but I'm getting the same error message that I did before. It's the error message that prompted me to delete the BF2 folder in the first place...

The error code relates to (and i quote) "catastrophic failure". Not sure what it is but search around for something to reinstall installshield, they have their own website somewhere, check that out

OK I'll give that a try. I'm D/Ling it now.

I just installed the latest version of installshield but I get the same error message when I try to install BF2

Hooray! Problem solved. I used the uninstall manager in tuneup utilities to remove the entry to BF2 which was still lingering on my system. Now installshield operates correctly.

I love tuneup utilities, it comes in very handy when you accidently delete that treasured digital photo album of last years holiday (speaking form experience)!!!!

Agreed. You gotta love tuneup. I've only had it a week and I want to make love to it already!
