Problem with booting

Hi Guys,

I've uninstalled a bunch of computers so far but this one is really giving me a headache.
It's actually my friend's computer and this is the configuration:
Intel Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600
CPU 2.4 Ghz
RAM 3 GB
System x64
Yes, it is not a bad one.

He had been running XP on it and it was full of viruses so I uninstalled it and put on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
It worked for a month and then the problems started.
It took too long to boot up. The icons of Skype and Google Earth don't look as usual, didn't want to boot, then he turned it off and on again and then it sometimes want and sometimes doesn't boot, what to say, show program :o
I ran some troubleshootings but everything looks perfect on it.

Is it maybe possible that his system doesn't like this copy of Windows 7 OS?
I ask this because I had similar problems before when I installed couple of Windows 7s on my laptop but the 4th worked well.

What do you suggest folks?

Thanks in advance :)

Problem with boothing

He's just tried but it cannot. This is interesting because I also tried on mine and it doesn't want.
He said to me that last week when he turned it on it was written that some files were corrupt and it did some scanning.

As long as the windows 7 install cd is not scratched or bootlegged then its not gonna matter if you try another install cd. Sounds like you bad hardware somewhere.

Problem with boothing

It may have been scratched. I am gonna try to burn it again at the lowest speed on a brand new CD.

The CD that I booted it from was a rewritable one and quite old.

Thanks mate. Talk to you after doing it again :D

Problem with boothing

I have been using the genuine one but the friend of mine doesn't.
He says it's too expensive to buy a new OS every time when Microsoft releases a new version of it.
Why do you ask?
