Problem with CD Drive

It will never go up to the maximum read/burn speed. Before it went up to 48X like normal, but since I reformatted (I got the old drivers) it will never go fast at all, when I watch DVDs on it it always skips/freezes video, audio glitches up... Please help.

get new drivers then... update them..... if you r not sure what kind of driver you need, use belarc advisor and see the details on your drive and search in google for a driver.

I went to www.compaq.com (My computer came from them.) And they gave me the most recent driver they had... I'll try your suggestion though.
