i was running two single channel ddr 2 633mhz sticks with the processor overclocked to 3.9gigs per core .. This has been fine for over a year

Today i got my crossair dominator (twin2x4096-8500C5D) (2x2gig)

Iv put these in the machine in the two blue Dual channel slots , And gone through the bios setup so im running them with SLI enabled with a 15% overclock with daul channel mode enabled..

The problem is i cannot run the sticks at 1066 i have to run them at 800 otherwise it wont post and get a det error, Yet if i remove the overclock on the CPU i can run them at 1066 without a problem

anyon got any ideas?

when you overclocked, you only increased you FSB speed (im assuming)

so lets use my PC for example. Stock clocks are at 266, and my multiplier is at 8

i have now increased my FSB to 375 while my multiplier has stayed at 8 (and no voltage increase)

now that mean my ram was running at 800MHz, but with the overclock, its at about 950MHz

basically, your overclock is pushing your ram too high. Turn your RAM speeds down (i had to, from 800mhz, to 667Mhz). speed will decrease, but your timings will drop too, so perfromance wont really change, but it gives you room to OC your CPU more)

i say if you drop only your RAM speed (not your OC) to 800MHz, you will be fine
