Problem With Downloading Files

I am having a huge problem with downloading files on the internet. I am on a broadband connection. I try to download files, but they only get to a certain point, then stop. I try to refresh, and it downloads even less of the file before stopping. I then refresh again, only to have it not try to download at all (at least that is how it appears). I have even tried to use several different browsers, but the problem exists with each.

I have Windows XP, Pentium 4, 512 MB Ram...anything else? I have tried to defrag, disk cleanup, clearing the cache, and various prowsers. I'm out of answers...anyone else? Thanks so much for your help!! I am frustrated to tears!

are you trying to download from the same website?
if you havent tried this already, try downloading something from another site....

Ah.... that it were that easy

I have tried downloading things from many different sites. It happens when I am trying to watch a video clip, too. It will download part of it, play part of it, and then stop. *sigh* I just want to watch this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4345041675875517929&q=simpsons
