problem with ECS NFORCE6M-A

i just got this ECS nforce6m-a mobo and it powers on, but just absolutely wont boot. usually, the display would show up and i would at least get to the bios, but with this mobo, i cant even get that far. there is no input into the monitor. i've spent about 5 hours tyring to get it to boot and swapping out with a few different parts already but still nothing. it won't even make beeping noises. these are the parts i'm using with it trying to get it to boot:

- athlonX2 BE-2300
- OCZ gold 2x1GB DDR2 800
- hitachi 80GB IDE
- samsung dvd burner IDE
- radeon 9250 128mb (PCI version)

all these parts are tested individually on other machines (except for the memory and mobo) so they all work. it only has 1 channel for IDE so i have to use both the dvd and HD on the same cable and it somehow conflicts. When both are connected, the dvd doesnt even power on and open/close. i think this is the main reason why it might not boot but i'm not so sure. would i have to switch to SATA since IDE interface might be too old for this mobo? or is it because of the video card? i have an nvidia 7900gt 512mb that is suppose to go in here but i cant put it in yet because it's not currently with me. would putting this better vid card in help it boot? i really hope i just didn't get a defect...

yeah i already tried using only 1 stick of RAM. and would it matter which slot to put it in for the one stick?

and also, is it absolutely necessary to have keyboard and mouse connected to it for it to boot?

HAHA nevermind! problem fixed. the 550W PSU didn't have the 12v1 plug so i my mobo wasn't connected in that area. i switched PSU, plugged in that part, and it works fine now :D wow i feel like an idiot

PS- for future reference, how come some mobos need that plugged in and some don't? i have a comp that doesn't need that 12v plugged in and works fine, and this one im building needs it?
