Problem with folder: Access Denied

Ok, so I recently went to an all SATA hard drive setup, but I want to get a few things off of my old 250GB IDE. Problem is, when I go to Document and Settings and then to my user folder, it says access is denied. I booted up the IDE, and removed passwords from all of my accounts, but it still says access is denied when I try to get into it... does anyone know any way that I can remove this protection and access the hard drive without booting up with it?

Why not just boot back up with the IDE and copy all the folders under the "My Documents", to a temp folder where there is no protection?

Because that is over 150GB...
I'd like to be able to access it quickly and easily... I'd like to sort through it and decide what I want to keep, without having to back the entire thing up.
