hi,

i have some problem with battlefield 2...

i have an hp 820n with a pentium 4 3.2GHz, 512 ram, and 200gb hard drive. i installed a graphic card (ati radeon 9250), and then i installed the game. however, when i load the game, i can see the logo, the screen becomes black and then it crashes back to windows... can anybody help me with that? for sure, it's not the incompability of the system. i updated the driver for the card and the same thing happens...

for the graphic card, i installed it, and then i installed the driver for the card. should i disable the driver for the integrated graphic card (intel 82915g express chipset family)? if so, how do you do that? when i go to control panel - system - device manager, and then disabled it from there, i got no image at all when my computer reboots...

thanks for any suggestions/comments.

How about cleaning the drivers out?

After you run the program, it might ask for a restart. Go ahead. Let Windows load and use its own generic video drivers. Ignore Windows messages. Install the newest drivers again. It should work. If not, clean it out and use older drivers.

Integrated graphics cards should be automatically disabled if you have a real graphics card. You could check the BIOS and disable it if it is still on.

Don't forget to download and install DirectX 9.0c from microsoft.com

i find this on bf2 support site...

The supported video cards are as listed below:

ATI Radeon -
X700 (PCIe), X600 (PCIe), X800 XT Platinum Edition, X800 PRO, X300 series.
9800 series, 9700 series, 9600 series, 9559 (RV350LX), 9500 series, 8500 series.

However, my ati radeon is 9250. is this because of that that bf2 is not loading?

i doubt your card can handle bf2, even if it could, it wouldnt be playable. upgrade to a 6600gt oc or equivalent

the 92xx series of cards aren't supported by BF2... i tried to get it working for a friend by using various combinations of drivers and settings and had no luck

thank you for your clarifications. 92xx cannot handle bf2 but 85xx does?? i find this weird... do you know if 98xx, 97xx, 96xx, 95xx, and 85xx are pci-based?

i have this problem solved... when i went into properties - settings for the desktop, the previous video card was still the default one...

now when i run the game, i got the intro video but when coming to the menu, it freezes, sometimes making a stuttering sound.

any suggestion? i guess i should play with the setting of the videocard or sound card?

thats the same problem my friend has; he uses a 9200 with 256 Mb of Vram... i tried everything i could think of with no luck... that doesn't mean i thought of everything tho lol

I think your graphic card can't handle it. Try running the demo cause my fx 5500 can handle the demo without any lags.

and when it freezes, it goes back to windows and i got a message "VPU Recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands." i tried my settings at 800x600 and 1280x1024 and both at 16- and 32-bit but the same thing happens...

DIrect X 9.0 certified cards would work best. Those are nvidias current line down to the 5200. THe 9200 is supposed to handle it, but i wouldn't expect much. Lower settings. That's my advice.

like i said, even if it does run it, it will not be playable. not to mention that 512mb of ram is not sufficient. sorry :(
