I installed Internet Explorer 7 beta recently, but I couldn't run another that I needed because it didn't support the new beta version. I went into control panel and show updates and went to explorer 7 and uninstalled. It uninstalled and promted me to reboot and I did. When i went back to use internet explorer it still had the 7.0 icon but it says "The apllication failed to initialize properly" So i downloaded IE 6.0 installed but when i go to install it says "theres a newer version of IE already installed". I have firefox but the problem is that i need a running Internet Explorer to manage running my other programs. Can anyone help?

my guess is even though you uninstalled it you still had registry entries and services running for it my advice would be to go into your registrty and search it for IE and after you delete those (using regedit.exe) you can go into your services and make sure there are none remaining and then try to reinstall 6.0

how to get in...

oh how do I get into my registry?

hey just go to the start menu click on run and then type in regedit.exe this will pull up the registry and it should be under both users and also software be careful though make sure you only delete internet explorer things now explorer they are 2 different things!

If you do not know how to get into your registry, Maybe you should not go there. The registry is the main brain and if you slip you are looking at a format and reload. Get a knowledgeable friend or your friendly tech at the local fixit shop to look for you.

Just go to www.download.com
search for registry cleaners and download a free one.

Oh, and is this beta 1 or 2?

a agree with computerhakk if you dont know how to get into there then just try uninstalling it again and then run a registry cleaner ususllay they will find the broken ones that are not supposed to be there or the programs that have been modified or deleted and left behind unwanted registry entries
