Problem with KV8 Pro??

I recently had to move the ram to a different slot on my motherboard. After this occurred i had a problem where the system would only boot if i reduced the memory speed to DDR 333.

I assumed that the memory was at fault and tried to reseat it several times without any sucess. I then decided to purchase some new ram and bought a 512 Mb stick of Corsair XMS. after installation i reset the ram timings and frequencies to auto and rebooted. once again my system cannot boot without a blue screen; the message is always different. As a result i had to manually set my memory speed back to DDR 333. Any suggestions as to how to solve the problem? The only reason i posted here is that im beginning to think its a motherboard problem.
Cheers :D

The XMS memory had a bySPD vdimm of 2.7v? The only ones I know that go that high (if even) are the 4400C25s ...

My bad, i was reading that value from uGuru ... in the bios under the uGuru settings its autodetected as 2.65V

Ok thats a bit more normal. Oh wait ... AMD64 chip ... what is the memory/cpu ratio you've got set right now? (since you cant directly adjust the memory clock)

in order to get it to boot properly i've had to run a divider... not sure what it is but my "FSB" is 400 but my ram is running at 333. before that it was running a 1:1 ratio

Well, i've had enough of this. i've tried all that i can think of... changing ram timings, voltages, swapping ram slots, using different sticks and combinations of ram to removing all of my pci cards and still nothing changes.

I'm just gonna go and buy a new motherboard, its a lot less hassle at the end of the day lol :D

Thanks for the help Praetor

Well with AMD64 setups thats the only way to set memory clocks (i.e., dividers) ... have you tried 1:1 and bumping the Vdimm? :)

sadly i didn't get a chsnce to try it cos my motherboard died yesterday :( ... i've got an Asus kv8 se deluxe now. having strange problems when installing windows tho; file transfer errors.... i think my processor might be causing problems
