Right, i have just bought a new comp for my brother, put it together and everythin went ok. Connected it up and everythin seemed like it was working, but wait... when i turn it on, i dont get a display at all. The monitor light just flashes green as if on standby. I dnt even see the bootup screen or bios or anything.

the monitor cable has a dvi adaptor on it to convert it from a hd-15 to a dvi connection.

I can use a dvi output on an old crt monitor cant i?

If there is a seperate video card other than the one attached to the motherboard directly, look further down on the computer and see if there is another port you could attach the monitor to. Some times they are a little tricky to see or people forget there computers have separate video cards.

Okay this EXACT thing happened to me so i called a computer specialist and he told me that my cpu or motherboard was defective. but i told him it was a brand new computer but thats all he knew and i had to pay him $75:mad:  well anyways i got mine fixed by taking out all the pci cards and i put in a old video card and it worked fine. So then i assumed my video card was defective but i decided to try it one more time before i was going to return it and it worked. I have no idea why it worked i think i changed some of the BIOS setting. Also make sure every think is pushed in tightly.
