problem with my 2nd HDD (Slave)

Recently i have purchased a Samsung HD300LD (300gig) HDD, i have installed it successfully with the bios mode detecting it as a Slave drive. The problem is when i to format it, it showed the total space was 31.48gigs its such a big difference from 300gigs. Any1 noe the problem that can help me fix this?

What format are you trying to use? Fat32? NTFS? And which OS?

what would u suggest? (for a HDD that stores videos,music,movies etc.)

I would suggest NTFS if you're using XP. Fat32 works well too though

Sonata, did you HD come with a installation cd? The CD should help format and get the drive ready for a compatible install. How old is your computer? and is you XP updated with service pack 2 or higher?

nop it didnt come with a cd

and my computer has sp2 in it
