Problem with my AVI file

hello,
for one of my AVI file, it said "error downloading codec" and the file plays on media player but there is no sound. Do i need to download some program to fix this problem? What could be the cause of this?

try searching google for k lite codec pack.

i could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure vlc is only a player and still needs codecs

I think vlc may play because it doesn't need codec to play dvds.But for your problem the most common and simple way is to install k lite codec pack.
