Problem with WORD 2003 FILE

Hi can someone please tell me whats up? I am trying to open my uni work in Office 2003 in word and it comes up with all 'Y's through out. Screenshot below:

like everyone else said, find words recovery tool!!

I am pretty sure its something to do with saving it as a temporary file not the original.
