Problem with new build

I completed my build and have just installed windows MCE. For some reason though, sometimes when I restart my computer, it gets stuck on the ABIT (my motherboard) screen and doesn't proceed to windows. So i turn it off and unplug everything and then restart it with only the power source and monitor plugged in...and it goes to windows. The only other things I have plugged in are the keyboard and a USB mouse. Could those be the problems? Do I need to install the USB drivers or something like that???

Is it safe to clear the cmos while everything else is hooked up (i.e. mobo, hdd, cpu, etc.) or should I have done that before I started the build?

your cmos is just all your hardware settings from when you go into the bios, that is where they are saved...in cmos. Just make sure the PC os off, you might want to unplug just in case. Do you have a vid card or are you using the onboard. Disconnect all hardware that is not used to boot.... like cdroms , zip drive ... etc

Also make sure you have the right ribbon connector on your hard drive, I once used a 33mhz cable for the cdrom and it wouldn't boot. The harddrives should be a finer looking wire than the cdroms.

Do you have SATA II hard drives? If your mobo only supports SATA I you may need to adjust the jumpers.
