Problem with new gen ATi Card...

In Catalyst Control for my new X1800XT, in the ATI Overdrive section, I haven't even overclocked it yet, but as standard, it says "requested VPU Clock: 621Mhz", then it says "current VPU clock: 594Mhz". Same problem with memory clock, says "requested Memory Clock: 747Mhz" then "current Memory Clock: 693Mhz". I fooled around with higher requested clock speeds, but the current clock always stays the same: underclocked. I feel like I'm not getting all I paid for... Any suggestions? Thx.

Its a tool thats you can use to overclock ATI cards. It has an artifact checking utility that runs a 3D shape to check for anomalys because of overheating. Check the speed while your running it. That should give show you the 3D speeds.

well, i haven't overheated it yet, I just got it, barely run any 3D applications yet, and when I have, they weren't overclocked. I was thinking, could it possibly be that it reachs the requested clock speed only in 3d applications? I'll post a screen of it, hold on...

Yeah thats what I'm saying. Since the artifact tool runs a 3d image you should see the 3d speeds. Sorry if I made that seem confusing.

I cant see anything in that... way too small

I would use ATI Tool, you can either manually se the speeds or have it run tests and set it at the maximum speed that your card can support.
