Problem With PSU

Troublesome

New Member
After putting together my new computer, i was eager to turn it on and watch it run. But i struck a problem.

When i plug my psu into the wall socket, It makes a whining sound, just 1 constant beep until i unplug it again.

I know all the componants in my computer are all fitted properly, and i really don't know whats making this happen.

The only things that i can think of are happening are...

1) The motherboard is dead...
2) The PSU is short circuiting itself...

Help needed!

Thanks

Is the volt selector switch on 115? That's the standard USA voltage and what your PSU should be on.

if it was on the wrong voltage thing, it would of exploded, and you'd know about it. trust me.
Not if it was set on 220v , and the outlet was 115v , it just wouldn't be gettin enough power....but if it was set on 115v and the outlet was 220v , then yes it would prolly "explode"

true. mine exploded, curiosity got the best of me :o

Well, i fiddled with it from 220v to 115v. Dosn't make a whine anymore. Problem is, it blew the fuse :o lol bah =/

Going to have to get a new PSU now >_< dammit!

I saw the fuse explode with a flash.... that wouldn't have damaged my motherboard or anything on it will it?
