problem with synergy

i recently installed ubuntu on my desktop again, and i have windows 7 on my laptop... i've gotten synergy set up before, but this time it's just giving me problems.. to get it to work, i have to start it on my laptop as a server, then execute quicksynergy as a client with a different mouse afterwards... then using my laptop's mouse, i can move it to my ubuntu computer.. and i can't switch it back to my laptop...

urg, so complicated, anyone know what i can do to fix this? or maybe a commercial alternative??

say your laptop is to the left of your ubuntu system. on your laptop(the server) you have to specify that the ubuntu system is to the right of the laptop AND that the laptop is to the left of the ubuntu system. If you only specify one. then it'll move over like it's suppose to, but not back.

i did to that.. and i did the opposite to... but it just won't go.... kinda irritating

I had problems with synergy after going to Vista, so I just switched to Input Director. it's free, and has a much easier setup.
