I am unable to open any pendrive on my computer. It gives a virus alert to all pen drive devices and then when I try to open the file it says access denied saying it cannot access the specified device path or file.

Please advice on how I can get this fixed.

Much thanks!

I have a couple. Not sure and just a guess. A virus.....is this new. not likely a virus. go to device manager. or start run type in 'device manager'. find the drive and right click if it has an exclamation. 'right click find a better driver'.
Cheap pen drives can destroy a usb port. you can always format the drive by right click and format with fat32. or goto start computers, find the drive and format there. did not say what size they were. ya could reboot then turn off the virus program temporary if you know the pen drive is safe. plug in the pen drive and see what happens.

You have not mention proper in details. You have not mention that you are not able to open the pen drive or any file which is saved in it. You have to clarify it. Whatever if you are not able to open you pen drive than just try to open it from the browser. If you have any virus still you will be able to open it from the browser. And if still not opening than you have not installed your USB drive. Just follow the above comments for it.

The pen drive does have a virus. I tried opening it on another comp and it says it has the viski virus, and then it also adds an autorun.inf file and a folder called peugot which is always empty. Ive repeatedly deleted both the files and to no avail. I then formatted the drive and then noticed that the autorun and peugot reappear on refreshing the page. I tried using autorun eater to no avail.
Do I need to post a HJT log for this?

You can download flash disinfector and run it with your usb flash drive attached to the system. It will create an autorun file that will stop any infections from getting on it.

  • Please download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
Note: Some security programs will flag Flash_Disinfector as being some sort of malware, you can safely ignore these warnings
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder. It will help protect your drives from future infection.
