problem with vista ultimate

need a little more detail.

what's the message it gives you?
does it give you a way to skip it and boot?
if you are able to skip it does it keep coming up?

i know..um..
i re-installed vista ultimate on a home premium vista..and when it asks me to recover i cant because the recovery is only for premium and the recovery CD doesnt do anything...it doesnt go to the login either....just straight to recovery...

sounds like you got a virus or something and the computer is unable to boot. if you don't have the recovery CD for the correct version, i don't know of any way around that. see if you can boot from your Vista CD and do a repair, but i imagine you're going to run into the some compatibility problems.

try booting in Safe Mode and see if you can identify the virus and remove it, but it sounds like the virus already corrupted an important system file. if the file can't be repaired, backup all your shit and do a clean install. it's up to you whether or not to use that Ultimate version install again, just realize you're going to run into the same problem if you get another virus.

i tried safe mode...cant get on it..
yes it worked before...i installed a new os..then its working for a min or two..then it restarts and goes to the disk recovery mode..

you corrupted the recover partition from factory settings. you need to reformat the entire harddrive deleting the recovery partition

then reinstall the version you want and your all set
