Everytime i watch a video through any of the video players i have on my laptop the video always shows up a faded grey colour. Does anyone know why this is?
I use a Sony Vaio Laptop and have it on Vista, it's not too old.

When i play the video it looks like this -

Also does anyone know why my CD drive icon doesn't show up anymore.. It's only been like this for like the past 2 days but CD's don't work anymore and i don't know why.

If anyones got any ideas it would be very helpful as these problems have been annoying me for the last couple of days.

Thanks. :)

The lack of contrast and brightness suggests a change of players and even a possible problem with the display or drivers installed. What players are you using?

As for the optical drive that may quit or the cable may need to be replaced. That would be the hardware side if Windows itself isn't seeing a detection problem. Using a system restore point to go back a few days might see that corrected if you made any software changes lately.

Try a different player and see if that helps,

as for the CD drive, have you bumped it in the last 2 days??? make sure it sits correctly in the laptop..... (turned off) and then see what happens, but have you done anything recently to your computer, like uninstall something?

Nothing big has happened installing or uninstallin wise, it has just happened. I use windows media player or realplayer or quicktime and it's all the same contrast. I'll try and see if any thing CD wise has been damaged.

Thanks for the responses. :)
