Problem with VLC Media Player

I'm having trouble with my VLC. Whenever I try to play anything on it the whole computer restarts. I've tryed to reinstall it like 3 times but the problem is still there. If someone could please tell me what is wrong or what I need to do with my computer i'd be very greatful.

no it doesnt restart when i use windows media player, winamp, or ashampoo. But those cant play the movies i want to see. VLC restarts the whole computer even if i just try play a song.

What exactly are you trying to play. Did you try MPC (Media Player Classic)
