Problem with VMWare and Kali Linux Installation

Greetings all,

Have windows xp pro,
sp3,
3.2ghz processor,
plenty of ram and hd space,
VMware version 7.0.1....

...Downloaded kali Linux ISO 32bit
from Linux site....Attempted to create a VM as in the past (attempting to install in safe mode with networking)...

...After initializing the new Linux VM received the following errors and after many attempts, still the same:

"Unable to open kernel device "\\.\Global\vmx86": The system cannot find the file specified. Did you reboot after installing VMware Workstation?
Failed to initialize monitor device."

What gives?...could it be because i m in safe mode?

....I would have bet $50 on that reply!...I simply am installing it that way....I uninstalled Linux, rebooted, reinstalled, booted "somewhat", but, the Linux is not running so-to-speak...no icons, no text, no nothing...

...Going to uninstall it and attempt to install same "made for VMWare" and see how that works.

EDITED: Rebooted same ("in regular mode") and have text...but says OS not found...Will uninstall and reinstall same.

Safe mode boots up without a lot of OS dependencies. It really isn't meant for a daily get-things-done environment and is more of a troubleshooting tool.
