OK, I restarted my computer, and now I am having a weird problem..The loading icon keeps coming on and off as if the computer is trying to open something, but never opening it...Could you guys please tell me the only processes that I NEED open for windows to work properly..I want to try to close each process one by one until I find the right one..Or maybe there is another solution..this is weird..Thanks

Try booting to safe mode. My guess is you have some sort of spyware or a virus. Perhaps scanning the computer in safe mode would yield some repairable problems. You may also consider running Hijackthis and seeing about removing any startup programs that may be causing the problem...

Well, once I boot in safe mode...What exactly would I do? I tried running hijackthis but I do not see anything abnormal

Well...I may have found the problem...However, whenevr i try to delete it in the Add/Remove Programs nothing will happen..I manually went to the folder, and deleted the stuff, but I am not sure..I will let my AV run, but I don't think it is picking anything up..I'll try to see

A problem starting Windows isn't always a spyware/malware problem. A bad install of some program or drivers can cause Windows to lockup. If you recently installed some new drivers or program just prior to seeing this one method for restoring Windows to an earlier date is starting the system restore process from the safe mode/command prompt only option seen in the F8 menu. At the promprt type in
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe just the way you see it here. Keep this in mind if you can't boot in safe mode at some point.

Hopefully you will have a few good restore points made prior to the first sign of this. Your last option would be to perform a repair install of Windows itself and then proceed with a full scan of the system for any sign of virus or malware at that time. INTELCRAZY's advice on reducing the amount of items that load with Windows is one first step to consider if you simply had a bad install of something.

Besides the manual removal of any files and folders you will want to remove the registry entries left behind for it. The system restore feature is geared more for this when used. But you can run RegCleaner and simply select the main reg keys in the main window there. http://www.dewassoc.com/support/useful/regcleaner.htm

All I would like is to know what processes I have to leave open..I want to close all unneeded processes to find the problem

One fast way to disable a good number of items that auto load along with Windows is the msconfig utility. You simply type msconfig in at the Run prompt off of the Start menu and press enter to open this up. At the far right the last tab opens the startup group where you can either choose the disable all check box whisch disabled video drivers/software and the same for a sound card if you have one as well as most other things.

For the items you know are needed you would leave those checked off and uncheck everything else there. The services tab is used with caution there unless you first place a check mark in the "hide all microsoft services" box to avoid disabling any essential MS background services. After you have the items you want disabled you simply click the apply button and restart the system to see the changes made there go into effect.

Yes, I know all that..The problem is I am not sure which was needed, etc..it was some kind of virus or something though..I re-formatted so it's OK right now.

Well that will certainly give you clean registry to start off with again. But it may not have been a virus but some piece of software lingering around in there. I've been through that a few times where you have to manually track something down in the registry as well as the files and folders left behind. Without seeing what you actually had there it does it make a little harder at times since softwares often have their own bugs to work out.
