Problems connecting to wireless internet

I've just bought a new laptop - Toshiba Satellite P300-19P and i cant access any wireless internet even though it's set up in my house with other computers already.

The laptop says that "This computer does not have a wireless network adaptor installed and configuered".

I was pretty sure that the laptop does have wireless built in. There's a wireless switch on it which is set to on so that's not the problem.

I'm confused...help!

Make sure that the wireless connection isn't actually disabled in network connections. Make sure that the wireless driver is installed properly in device manager.

what are you trying to use?? The windows wireless??? If so, you will have to configure you wireless card to use the windows function.

Ok - i looked in network connections and the wireless connection icon isn't there - just the Local Area Connection...

Also couldnt really find anything about the wireless driver in the device manager - however under Network Controller it says that the drivers for this device are not installed. But when i click on reinstall driver and search automatically for updated driver software it says that windows could not find the driver software for the device.
Tried to do it manually - but wasnt sure exactly what to click!

And yes, i'm pretty sure i'm trying to use windows wireless. Looked up on the internet how to configure a wireless card to use the windows function - however in my network and sharing centre (i have windows vista) there's no option to manage wireless networks - just manage network connections.

I dont really know much about all this as you can probably tell - but to me this all seems pretty weird - im beginning to wonder if the laptop does actually have a wireless card installed...i know its supposed to!

Well sounds like Windows Zero isn't enabled...... you will need to install your driver for the wireless.
