So i have some videos that i want to edit, but the problem is i am running windows. When i put the videos on my computer they go one so the open in quicktime and it says filename.mov. I tried changing .mov to .avi or .mpeg and they open up in windows media but i cant see anything i just hear the videos. I also went to properties of the videos and change it so the open with windows media player and it does the same thing just the sound of the video no picture.
I was wondering if there is anything i can do to open these videos in windows media player?

I can see it on another comp but it still is a quicktime file (.mov). My problem is i want to change it so i can open up in wondows media player because thats what the editor uses.

Changing a file extension does not convert a file. You will need to actually CONVERT the video to a different type before you can use it.

There's nothing wrong with your pc or Windows Media Player. Styrak's correct, the file extention of a file is just a clue as to how it's encoded, changing it makes no difference to the file itself, in fact it confuses the software trying to play it and in most cases stops it from being played at all, even in the players it was designed to be played in.

Easiest solution: install Quicktime on your pc to play the videos. There is a windows version (despite what you may think), and that player is designed to play .mov files natively. To edit, you need to find a converter by searching the web, convert it to AVI or WMV, and import it into Windows Movie Maker.
