problems overclocking my e4500

hi. i have been trying to OC my e4500 and have failed to get past 2.7 ghz stable. i have it a 2.99 and its too unstable to start crysis. i have the voltage at like 3.68 or something which is pretty high, and i have all voltages higher than stock(ram, northbridge, fsb). so what am i doing wrong. i want to get to 3.2ghz. my specs are in my signature. thanks
 
That is WAYYYYY to high turn that down immediatly.

lol he did not get that high. anything much higher than 2.0v on air (if you can even reach that) would kill the CPU, so there's no way he will reach 3.0+ volts.

mortonman, can you please check your voltages and post all your settings?
 
Your cpu aint at 3.68v, it would be dead.

1.68v Maybe, still too high. Max you want to be at really is around 1.55v depending on your chips vid.
 
I just made a post about 30 min ago asking what a good range for that processor is. My Vcore (in bios) is 1.55 and I'm at 3.4 ghz Prime95 stable for 10 hours.


*EDIT* Also I'd like to add after Vdroop its at 1.512 idle and 1.456 load. So I'm guessing I'm in a safe range for prolonged use? Just to mention my temps were 58C-62C after 10 hours of Prime95.

ok what the hek. im confused. im not an expert with this. but it says, 3.25 now. i went down. this isnt the FSB voltage or anything. ill go double check. i feel stupid

o and my temps are as low as 21C or as high as i think 41 maybe. i have the thermaltake maxorb

Those are pretty much stock. You can bump those up to at least 1.5 Vcore and be all right. According to Bootup 1.55 Vcore. I can tell you that my e4500 does 3.2 at 1.425 Vcore although that can vary from chip to chip. What works for one chip may not work for another. At this point I've hit the max I'm willing to go 3.4 GHZ @ 1.55 Vcore (in bios). Start by going up little by little in voltage till it gets stable. The less volts the better.
 
ya but i had to go to 1.69 to even run windows at 2.99ghz. its ridiculous that your doin that good with yours. unfair. so what am i doing wrong. raise the northbridge voltage?
 
Everything else is at stock voltages except for the RAM. The RAM is at 2.0V. Some chips don't clock as well as others it's just the name of the game.
 
I still would like someone to answer is 1.55 Vcore safe for prolonged use? I have it stable at this Vcore @ 3.4 GHZ, and I would like to keep it that way.
