Problems removing malware(Hijack This Log included)

Hello all,

I am having a bad problem trying to 'clean up' my in-law's computer. I have run several scans with Ad-Aware and SuperAnti-Spyware with neither of those programs turning up any infected files.

Any help with the enclosed Hijack This log would be greatly appreciated.

Hello!
As I checked your Log it has couple of nasties.
2 of them are especially nasty and I want you to fully cooperate.

Please, open HjackThis and choose Do a system scan only.
Place a check next to these lines:

  • R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://softwarereferral.com/jump.php...MjI6Ojg5&lid=
  • O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {60AFE1CD-9BA1-47AC-929C-484FBA08DF62} - (no file)
  • O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {C7112EF1-D5B6-421D-8F58-8FA63AB144F8} - (no file)
  • O21 - SSODL: sapnet - {29794865-CDBD-48C0-B217-56CA5312AE8D} - C:\WINDOWS\sapnet.dll
  • O21 - SSODL: rmvgor - {84913B00-24AB-4964-B930-BA26B0C02C38} - C:\WINDOWS\rmvgor.dll

Be aware that last two lines belong to powerful Trojan viruses ( others are just deactivated entries). Please choose Fix to fix the entries.
Now,

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
Note: Please print this on paper or write down since you are not able to connect to net while in safe mode.

Thanks for the help GameMaster. I tried pasting the report.txt, but when I submit the post, I get an error message saying there are too many images. It further says that only 20 images are allowed and I have 22. Not sure what that means. I did copy the .txt file from the bad computer to a flash drive and brought it over to the computer I'm typing on now. Any ideas on this?

Thanks,

firedog120

Yes it's because some of the report is viewed by the BBCODE Parser as smileys. Post your log in quotes or in two posts if it still doesn't work.

Weeeeeee!
HijackThis log is clean.
However, just this one entry. Ebates MoeMoney maker
Please tell me if you know what it is, and tell me if you remember did you install it?
Anyway don't worry about that it's not dangerous or anything I'm just curious about that proccess.
Btw, please listen to what webbenji said and try to post SDFix log as that's essential to pronounce your computer clean :P

Good to hear that the comp looks clean. It's surely running quicker. Need to buy another 256MB RAM chip to put in there to help give it a little boost!

Not familiar with the 'MoMoney' deal. Comp owner is not familiar with it either. Also, it's not showing up in the Add/Remove Programs either.

Thanks for the help!

Couldn't get the log in two posts for some reason, so I'll break it up in three.
