Problems Starting machine

I recently recived all my parts to assemble my new system. I hooked it up and tried to load the OS and it half way through formating the hard disk and shut down. I have never seen anything like this before what do you think it could be?

Sounds like a bad powre supply... They can cause your machine to shut down any time. It's usally when doing something like gamming, but it can be random.

The power supply is brand new it cant be bad can it? and yes i have tried it about 3 times same thing every time

2 Dual core xeon processors, 1 gig ram, Radeon X800GTO 128MB, 80gig Hard drive SATA connection

2 dual core Xeons could use up alot of power, what PSU do you have?

It is a 500 watt power supply

What are the amps on the +12V rail?

ummm im not sure excuse me for being a bit dumb im not sure what that is
