Problems with a webcam in vista.

I recently bought a new laptop which came pre-installed with windows vista home premium. I got a webcam to use (creative webcam instant) with it and installed the driver/software etc. the problem is any time i try to record a video with sound, the webcam app. screws up and crashes. does anyone know of any free webcam software i could use to record videos with since the stuff that came with the camera doesnt seem to work?
 
Welcome to the Vista challenge! Your main problem there is that most softwares are writtten for either 9X-ME, 2K, XP or just 2K, XP. You will need a newer release of the software used there that is Vista ready. The freewares on the web for the most part may or may not run too well. For this reason you will probably have to go through maybe several freewares or sharewares to see what works the best. One open source beta program is found at http://lundie.ca/fwink/

You will probably be stuck going through a long list of these on freeware sites like the one seen at http://www.freewarefiles.com/category_5_185.html
