Problems with AIM and Xfire

i have that aol instant messager (not my favorite but everyone i know has it)and also Xfire...anyways after i am signed on for like more than 15 minutes on either of the programs, it just randomly signs me off...it isnt any type of internet connection failure (im pretty sure) because the IE still works after the AIM or xfire crash...

im just looking for any ideas or help or ideas of what could be the problem...i have already re-installed both programs so i dont think it has to do with that...also my firewall (zonealarm) and antivirus (AVG free, even tho that doesnt matter) both allow it so i dont know where to start...
 
if you have AIM Triton then that might be your problem. it is one of the buggiest apps i have ever seen/used

yeah i do have triton...i guess i can downgrade....but if xfire does it too, then would that even be the problem?
 
Ummm, one idea, dump the crap and use Gaim, it's a all in one messenger client that will let you sign into all the major IM netoworks.
 
All the third party applications seem to have this problem. My AIM and MSN Messenger do the same thing about every 2 hours or so. I have no idea what the source of the problem is. I hope they fix these bugs.
 
My MSN messenger and Gaim are all that I run, and I have left them signed if for, who knows how long, two, three weeks? They never cut out... :)
 
this problem is starting to get worse...seems like all my programs now do this..i am trying to download a huge file, and eventually it just stops after a few minutes and i have to download it all over...

does ANYBODY have any ideas of what i could do to fix this?

just drop aim and get Gaim. i have file sending problems with gaim to aim ppl tho.

can i at least talk to people on AIM if i am on gaim?...cuz i never really use file sharing on aim anyways...thanks i guess ill check it out
